Pityriasis rosea quick treatment

Pityriasis rosea does not require a specific type of treatment because it usually resolves without medical intervention. The rash will disappear after eight weeks more or less, if no complications occur during this period.

The itching, which is a classic symptom of pityriasis rosea, is usually diminished with creams based on steroids like hydrocortisone or clobetasol. If the creams do not work, the patient might also try some oral antihistamines that can decrease this sensation, without making it disappear although. It is also recommended to avoid high water temperatures while showering and to take lukewarm baths with oatmeal. Lotions that contain calamine or menthol might also palliate the symptoms. Another thing very useful in those cases, if the weather is proper, is the sunlight. The person should expose the body parts affected by Pityriasis rosea to sunlight, between 10 and 15 minutes every day, until the rash and the itching diminish and then disappear. If the weather does not allow this treatment, also UVB light is benefic.

All those remedies are quick solutions in case of a simple case of Pityriasis rosea, meant to make the patient feel comfortable during this period. If any of these things do not work or if the rash spreads too much, you should see as soon as possible a doctor that can adjust the treatment properly.
