Pityriasis rosea eyeHere is the thing about pityriasis rosea: it has specific areas that it affects and it never strays from those. That is the rule. However, there are exceptions from that rule and some of them are pretty dire. For example, when pityriasis rosea affects the eyes of a patient, the situation could be considered a true danger to that persons' health. Why such a problem about pityriasis rosea appearing around the eyes of the patient? Well, the answer is pretty straightforward: imagine the typical rash of pityriasis rosea. Now, if you have suffered from it, you are aware that it is pretty annoying and that it itches something terrible. Now, take those same red pustules and think about them being placed somewhere near your eyes or on the lids of your eyes. See, if they would appear on the outside of the lids, which is highly unlikely, things would not be so devastating. After all, the lids are skin and the same rules apply: do not scratch and keep as dry as possible. However, if the pustules develop on the inside of the lids, there are two situations that are plausible: first, the little bags will not rupture, but they will chafe the eyeball. Nothing good comes out of this. Secondly, the pustules break and the virus is released into the body. The eye is affected first, the patient risks a lot and pityriasis rosea suddenly becomes an important condition. |
