What is Pityriasis rosea disease ?Pityriasis rosea appears on the chest, abdomen or back. Clinically, it has a special name, it is also called plaque (herald patch) or mother spot. After one or two weeks, on the body and limbs starts appearing more and more spots or patches. They may spread to the neck, but very few spots appear on the face. About half of the patients have mild itching. In a hot environment itching will become more serious. A small number of patients are tired, feel pain, and flu-like symptoms. Pityriasis rosea rash generally appear in two weeks. Takes about 6-8 weeks to completely disappear. Some rash may last longer. A small number of patients suffer up to a few months. Strenuous exercise or hot baths will lead to temporary deterioration or recurrence of skin rash. They should be avoided.
The pityriasis rosea is very common throughout the world. It affects roughly equally both sexes. The contamination may appear at any age, but especially in children and young adults. A resurgence in the fall or spring is observed. There is no incentive outside, perhaps, atopy or recent infection. Do not confuse this dermatosis with secondary syphilis, it is necessary to perform a serological test (blood tests) for syphilis. |
