Pityriasis rosea UVB

The main problem about pityriasis rosea is that it cannot be cured. Unfortunately, once the first eruption has appeared, the disease will come and go unannounced. The fact that it cannot be cured does not mean that it cannot be treated. The most well known treatment is the pityriasis rosea UVB therapy. It is, indeed, one of the only ones that work for any period of time.

However, the pityriasis rosea UVB phototherapy is, without doubt, the most dangerous one. The only question that a patient should ask their physician is what the pityriasis rosea UVB treatment really is. Here is the answer to that query: it is a type of phototherapy. Why is so dangerous? Well, the chemical compound that is activated by UV rays can cause skin cancer very fast if it is used in the wrong dosage or with the wrong type of light. However, if it is properly handled, the pityriasis rosea UVB phototherapy gives the sufferer a pustule - free skin for anything between five weeks up to ten weeks.

Of course, with such a dangerous chemical compound, there are some major counter indications that must be obeyed at all costs: no young children can be treated with the UVB therapy and no pregnant women should even come in contact with UV light. Women who breastfeed should wait for a period of time before feeding their child after the therapy.
